Marcin Wiącek met with the head of IOM mission in Poland

On May 31st 2023 the Commissioner for Human Rights Marcin Wiącek met with the head of IOM mission in Poland, Livia Styp-Rekowska.

During the meeting participants discussed such issues as: the situation of Romani people in Poland (both Polish and coming from Ukraine), actions meant to prevent human trafficking, and initiatives aimed at improving the situation of war refugees from Ukraine. In light of the recent humanitarian crisis a lot of attention was devoted to the situation on the Polish-Belarusian border.
Ms Livia Styp-Rekowska was appointed the head of the IOM mission in Poland in April 2021. She has been a part of IMO since 2007 when she first took part in the IOM mission in Iraq. She also supported IOM missions in Sub-Saharan Africa and helped countries of South Eastern Europe and Central Asia regarding the management of migration. 
The International Organization for Migration is a UN agenda dedicated to the issue of migration. It consists of 175 member states including Poland. Its mission is the promotion of organized migration that respects human rights.
