Meeting with representatives of Ukraine

Human Rights Defender prof. Irena Lipowicz met with the representatives of Ukrainian non-governmental organizations Legal Aid Provision and Ukrainian Legal Aid Foundation, which are engaged in free legal advising. The purpose of the meeting was exchange of experience and good practices in this respect.
Prof. Lipowicz presented the origin the Ombudsman's institution in Poland and discussed the competencies of the HRD's Office related to legal information granting. She indicated also on the problems concerning functioning of the helpline and admission point for the parties concerned in the Ombudsman's Office.
Conversation covered also the issues concerning cooperation in the scope of preparation and distribution of legal information for the Ukrainian citizens staying on the territory of Poland. The Defender stressed that it is possible for the international ombudsman institutions to support similar civil initiatives.
