Visit of the Commission of Human Rights of the Republic of Korea

Prof. Irena Lipowicz, Human Rights Defender and Prof. Byung-chul Hyun, Chairman of the Commission of Human Rights of the Republic of Korea (NKPC) signed today in Warsaw the Cooperation Agreement that determines the framework of common actions of both institutions within the next 3 years. At this occasion bilateral consultations were conducted involving experts of the Defender's Office and NKPC concerning, e.g. protection of elderly people's rights, mechanisms of tortures prevention in places of isolation and the situation in North Korea. The possibility of exchange experience and knowledge of the officials has been agreed – for instance, in terms of actions undertaken as part of the National Mechanism of Prevention of the HRD Office. Korean Delegation will end its visit in Poland with a visit in Museum of Auschwitz-Birkenau.
