Visit of the Myanma parliament representatives

On July 1st, 2013, the Office of the Ombudsman was visited by a delegation of representatives from the Myanma parliament staying in Poland as part of a study trip organized by the Polish Senate.

 

The delegation was received by prof. Irena Lipowicz – ombudsman, Mr. Stanisław Trociuk - deputy ombudsman and Dr. Ewa Dawidziuk - head of the section of penal executive procedure.

 

The talks focused on the genesis and the impact of the ombudsman on the political transformation in Poland, the powers of the ombudsman in comparison to other human rights institutions and specific ombudsman tasks for the protection of prisoners’ rights. The guests were interested in  Polish experience in privatization matters, minority rights and the impact of ombudsman on the level of legislation.

 

The delegation consisted of: Khin Maung Oo, Lwin Oo, Nay Win, Tin Aung Khaing, Tun Tun Lin Phyo Than Naing, Than Htike, Joanna Urban (Senate), Agata Wójcik (Senate), Aleksandra Szkudłapska (interpreter).
